Thomas Beddoes to Josiah Wedgwood, 23 July 1808

Dear Wedgwood

I know that whitesmiths here make machines as well as elsewhere but none are in the habit of making them to support the arms – though they cd do it after a model or drawing – I wd not trouble the arms at all events & suppose that a little movement without machine wd do best with much rest between whiles – As I never saw the arms supported nor even a drawing of a machine for this purpose, I can say little to it. The principle is right, no doubt – But it may be compensated by some inconvenience perhaps –

I am
Dear Wedgwood
