Thomas Beddoes to T. G. Estcourt, 17 November [1807]
My dear Sir
I flatter myself that the alternatives are working down the enlarged mesenteric glands in yr little fellow – His case is a very common one & in the little book which I dare say you have of mine I have described his symptoms as exactly as I cd have done, had I had him before me –
Davy has just solved one of the great problems of chemistry by decomposing the fixed alkalis – & in doing so, has created 2 new bodies with surprizing properties – like quicksilver & silver; but the lightest in nature & the most inflammable –
I do not know whether I am too troublesome in requesting you to direct the letter marked D to Davy – Royal Instn Albemarle St the other to
Dr Berger
Rev T. Morrell’s
St Neot’s
I am with compts, my dear Sir
yrs truly
Thomas Beddoes
