Thomas Beddoes to Jean-Charles De Boffe, 10 July 1807

Clifton

10 July

Sir,

I have put you & your father to much trouble for my accommodation – & am much obliged to you both for what you have done – I cannot expect you to incur the responsibility of a valuable set of books on my acct – But I am willing to take any on myself, which can be imposed – In fact, if any person wd take the trouble of noting down when the parcel shd be sent off or entered at the coach-office, I do not think there is any the least risque – I never lost a parcel & think none between this & London, if of any size, can be lost I have requested my friend Mr Davies Giddy to call upon you in order to arrange the difficulty if possible –

I think I cd extract nearly a vol. a day for my purpose & if Dr Garthshore wd allow me the 25 vol in two parcels each might be returned in a fortnight –

In any event I shall retain a sense of the Doctor’s liberality & yr obligingness –
I am Sir
yr obedt sert

Thomas Beddoes
