Thomas Beddoes to Davies Giddy, 20 February 1807
When you have settled your copper & Sir Christopher & walk by Deboffe’s, be so good as look in try to find a good elementary treatise of mathematics (geometry & algebra) & take the title down & transcribe it into the first letter you write to Clifton – or if you know any clear, concise & well arranged work of ye same kind in English – NB this for a young lady not little Anna nor yet Miss Harriet Dashwood but her sister Miss Dashwood alias Miss Louisa – a young lady who is marching with long strides – that is, as long as are becoming in a young lady – round the circle of the sciences –
T.B.
I must not omit to thank you for your letter of figures –
