Thomas Beddoes to T.G. Estcourt, 28 January 1807

Dear Sir

I shd not be surprised nor discouraged by little untowardness in Miss Estcourt’s case at first – The headache is, in this respect, the worst symptom inasmuch as it prevents the application of those means, which wd pretty soon remove all the others – But I think by restoring warmth to the feet & by cold – dipping the head, we shall conquer this difficulty in time –

I may have ere long occasion to change the pills, the prescription for which I left in Mr Davies’s hands – and I believe that an issue <in the arm> wd do Miss E. much good. at the same time I am fully sensible how desirable it wd be to do without this – Therefore I dropped no part of the thing lest the idea shd harass Miss E’s mind –

As soon as I can give you exact particulars of the baths, I will write again –

Meanwhile with compts to the whole of your family party I remain
with sincere respect
yr faithful & obt sert

Thomas Beddoes

I cannot help giving you joy of the intelligence which opens the prospect of an end to Buonaparte’s career of mischief & which I think the most important we have received these fifteen years –

Address: Mr Estcourt
