Thomas Beddoes to T.G. Estcourt, 17 January 1807
Dear Sir
I make it a rule never to have the smallest difference with any one on the subject of fees – And I never fail to find persons in a certain situation in life sufficiently willing to make the physician adequate compensation for his time & attention – I have never the least objection to be as explicit as any body can wish – & that no dissatisfaction may take place on either side, I state in answer to yr enquiry that, independently of travelling expences which are easily computed, I have received, on acct of a visit occupying about three days, from different persons from twenty five to thirty five guineas –
On looking round to my present engagements I see nothing which wd absolutely prevent my leaving home either on Thursday or Friday next – probably the former of those days –
I join in the obliging wish with which your letter concludes & trust me may mutually look back to the commencement of our intercourse with pleasure, if it take place –
No doubt you will honour me with a single line in reply – Meanwhile
I remain
respectfully yours
Thomas Beddoes
