Thomas Beddoes to Richard Phillips, 27 August 1806

Dear Sir

As soon as the drt arrives, it shall be re-presented – It is odd that the holder never offered it for acceptance –

I believe I was so ill as to be near going to that country where neither the myrmidons of France nor the tax-gatherers of England ae to be feared.

I am greatly recovered though still very weak and incapable of maintaining any species of exertions – I suppose I shall have long to recover myself and probably I may suffer from the winter’s cold –

I am Dear Sir
              yrs truly
                            Thomas Beddoes
