Thomas Beddoes to Davies Giddy, 7 March 1806

Dear Giddy

I have no doubt about keeping ye stock & buying more – I am content to take my chance among others – the sight of so many higher, abler, better people degraded, impoverished destroyed must reconcile one to misfortunes, if they happen; or where is the use of history?

I hope the above is precise enough – I am glad yr hypochondriasis is likely to prove so transitory –

Adieu
yrs truly

Thomas Beddoes
