Thomas Beddoes to Davies Giddy, July 1804

As we came along in the sociable from the Bath hotel to-day, we were talking of the disappointment in the search for a second hand barouche or sociable – I mentioned you as being in the way to get one – Of course, I wd have a good one – easy, capable of holding 4 with elbow-room – & going on a chariot-carriage. Perhaps a body may be to be obtained with the carriage. I only request you will let me know before you absolutely bargain – A good Barouche will hardly be got for £150 – a sociable much cheaper – If it have a canopy, it wd do nearly as well –
