Thomas and Anna Beddoes to James Watt, 16 June 1804
Dear Sir
Mrs Beddoes was prepared to make you reports of the lodgings here – We are sorry the expt of migration failed – What strikes me in your acct is the probable use of wine as a medicine in case of dyspnea & exhaustion – So direct an inference cd escape nobody –
I am
Dear Sir
Yrs very truly
Thomas Beddoes
Saty Evg
[in Anna Beddoes’s hand:]
No 0 in Princes Buildings & a house very near Clifton Church are the two lodgings most preferable – The sitting room below stairs in Princes Buildings looks to the river, therefore the bed room is noisy being toward the street. The rooms you want above stairs are not yet empty – the xxxx situation near the church is less noisy than most about this place but the sitting rooms are small & would be very hot – tell me what you would like to have done, and believe me nothing would give me more pleasure than to be of any assistance to Mr Gregory –
