Thomas Beddoes to William Clayfield, [?1801]

I thanked Mr Wright for his kindness in a note – I took the opportunity of saying that I had understood, 20, 30, 40 or 50 ft of Portugal soapes cd be had privately cheaper if we knew how to get at them. He wrote a very friendly blunt note saying my object shd be attended to. I dare not add a word – as perhaps he, notwithstanding his multifarious concerns, wd order . . . his people to look to my petty bargain, & he said there was a ship in the river. Will you go and have a jaunt by the Usk . . . I shall & Mrs B—. I was out yesterday & believe I am not going crazy.

Yrs ever

T. Beddoes
