Thomas Beddoes to Josiah Wedgwood, 10 November [1800]

Dear Wedgwood

I am sadly grieved to learn from John Wedgewood that Tom does not hold out so well as I had hoped agt the coming winter. Of course he has rejected my proposal about phosphorous &c as I neither wonder nor blame – However most certainly phosphorous can be given safely – I will most willingly bring some & the other thing I mentioned if he will only bear my travelling expences but it is not worth while I fear If the mention of what I write is likely to alarm Tom – you will burn it – farewell

Yrs truly
