Thomas Beddoes to Thomas Wedgwood, [1799/1800]

Dear Wedgwood

I suppose in 2 or 3 days the warm ablution & the intermediate black drop & bark &c will stop the fever, if it was (as seems from your act) the effect of the Bath water – but you should not I believe take the acid at the same time – I will send it in time.

Baths with some infusion of animal or veg. matter have often been proposed for nutrition – I know not their effect –

Upon consideration it is unlikely I think that the temperature of the cowhouse will correct the bad habits of your skin & stomach – People here are now so tuned to the project that they would allow you to introduce cows into their rooms. Is not there a room at Cornwallis House which you could fit up –

Suppose you drink the Bath waters at shorter intervals & in half the quantity you did before –

I am
with all good wishes
yours

Thomas Beddoes
