Thomas Beddoes to Charles Collins, 29 October 1799 (copy)

Sir

I have bestowed all the consideration in my power on the case so accurately stated by you and yet I have nothing important to suggest After the reputation lately acquired by warm sea water it should be fully tried and certainly if the water of Lanwortid has given the least relief or procured the least amendment I shd be for seconding Dr Davies’s advice – I am afraid the parts are so situated that neither carbonic acid gas nor any other elastic fluid can be kept constantly applied otherwise I wd have them tried – If Mr Holbrook sd go to Lanwortid and should not experience the wished for relief benefit I sd be glad to hear from him again. Meanwhile I will reflect on the case & try to discover some new practice by which there may be a chance of healing this ugly ulcer.

I beg my comps to him
& am sir with respect
yours

Thos Beddoes
