Thomas Beddoes to Thomas Girdlestone, 13 March 1794
My Dear Sir
If you have seen a collection of letters from Dr Withering &c to me on pneumatic medicine, you will find, I think, good encouragement to proceed in the trial of this practice. The great difficulty which I am labouring to overcome is a convenient domestic apparatus. The difficulty I shall certainly vanquish. I have drawn up proposals for a medical pneumatic Institution which will forthwith appear; if you can promote the scheme I hope you will. Some both useful & curious knowledge must be derived from it.
The number of letters I have to write on the subject prevents my entering into farther particulars. Indeed I hope the proposals will require no commentary.
I am with great regard
Dear Sir
Yours
Thos Beddoes
