Letter 401 - The Letters of Robert Bloomfield

401. Baldwin, Cradock & Joy to Mary Ann Bloomfield, fair copy with accounts on verso, 6 April 1825*

April 6. 1825

Madam,

The inclosed account will show you that the advances we have made were not warranted by the sale, & that the demand has not been equal to our anticipations. When we come to a final settlement it will be necessary to make some charge on the score of interest.—The balance due to us up to Dec 31st is £228.15.11 and the books then on hand amount at the regular trade price to £488.7.8 but it is much to be doubted if the 'Mayday' and Hazelwood Hall will even realise their nominal value.

We have not made up the account of the 'Remains' because we must first communicate with Mr Weston in order to learn what part of the expences are already paid for. Will you have the kindness to send his address, that book too, is a failure, there not having been by any means a sufficient quantity sold to cover the expences.

We remain madam your obdt servants

Baldwin, Cradock & Joy.
