City Road. May 29. 1807.

Dear Madam,

I send you the Anthems at last, not liking to keep them here untill I can again stretch to Fullham for I know not when that can be. I certainly never more experienced the kindness of you all than on the late occasion, yet how hard I strove against dejection! and ill health! I know you must have observed it, and that only makes me mention it here. I hope I shall feel in 'another [illegible word] manner' by the time of your appointed Gloucester expediton, [1]  If I do not, I shall unequivocally decline incumbring you with my inanimate body, I will go mind and all, or stay at home.
