Letter 176 - The Letters of Robert Bloomfield

176. Robert Bloomfield to Mary Lloyd Baker, 25 February 1806*

City Road, Feb 25th 1806

Mrs L Baker

Mrs Anstead undertakes to send the enclosed Books to Fullham, and, I undertake no such thing as my excuse for omitting to answer your kind letter which I received on my return from the Sea Coast. I had a painful and unhappy winter, but am much better now, and in hopes of a joyfull spring. With respect to the Voll of poems I have sent, [1]  in your hands, I fear nothing but your prepossession in my favour, which perhaps is quite as formidable an obstacle to encounter as a prepossession on the other side, it may disappoint you, be on your guard!

Please to present to your affectionate Mother the other copy, and let Mr Owen have that which contains his name. I have several letters to write, and among the rest to your old playmate at Clare Hall. To all friends with true respect and thanks

I am, Madam, yours

R Bloomfield

Address: Mrs Lloyd Baker
