Letter 116 - The Letters of Robert Bloomfield

116. Robert Bloomfield to George Bloomfield, 27 October 1803*

City Road. Thursday Afternoon Oct 27th 1803

Dear George

I did intend to write by Mr Austin but somehow did not do it, and I write now to say that Isaac will have from Nat a packet of List by Tuesdays coach, which at the same time will convey the Monthly parcell and perhaps some further news of the song.

I should be glad to know at what date I sent the £15, whither since the 18th of March, if so I wish to have an account of it in my memorandoms of yearly expenditure. I had not opportunity to say a word on the subject to Mr Austin, as the last meeting at the Bull was a drunken Wedding Night, and my head told me so yesterday. I have an anxious wish to know that it is settled, because as I promised it, he may think me forgetfull. I will send him by the parcell sufficient for the payment; and the other, you and I can recon between ourselves afterwards. The Mirror is always overloaded with poetical contributions, I don't wonder at their rejecting many pieces. However enamour'd you may be, with all difference I must quite withhold all advice as a younger Brother, and always wish for you happiness. I will write again by parcell.

Yours

Robert Bloomfield
