Letter 102 - The Letters of Robert Bloomfield hello

102. Robert Bloomfield to Harry Weymouth, 11 January 1803*

Near the Shepherd & Shepherdess

City Road

Jan 11th 1803

Sir,

I received your kind invitation by the hand of my neighbour, Mr Shey, and should deem it a very high honour to meet the company which I understand will be at your Table. But am truly sorry to inform you Sir, that at present I hold a small appointment the gift of the Duke of Grafton and that the duty required at a publick office totally forbids my attendance at your hospitable board this Evening. Our Hours of duty at the Seal-Office are from Eleven to One—and from four to Six.

I relinquish the appointment soon—and will hope for an opportunity to explain particulars—till when I remain

Sir your most Obedient Humble servant

Rob Bloomfield
